Wine & Chocolate Evening

A Benefit for United Way of Southern Chester County

at an Award-Winning Chester County Green Home: 60 Bragg Hill

Saturday, April 25, 2015 – 6:30-9:30PM

Join us for an extraordinary evening celebrating the divinely decadent world of chocolate at the architectural masterpiece 60 Bragg Hill, designed by Mathew Moger of Moger Mehrhof Architects. Featured in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Amazing Spaces” March 2014 Issue and Main Line Today, 60 Bragg Hill honors the heritage of the Brandywine Valley while balancing the use of green building technologies, land stewardship, and handcrafted detail. It is truly one of the most remarkable additions to southern Chester County architecture in recent years.  Barney and Nancy Leonard, 60 Bragg Hill’s owners, invite you to join them for this special event in their home.  The event will feature artisan chocolates made by local chocolatiers paired with fine wines from area vineyards and craft beers; live music; and more. Tickets for the evening are $75 per person or $135 per couple.

Online reservations are closed.  Parking will be at Brandywine Valley Association on Rt. 842.  Questions on Saturday - call 302-275-9979.

Don't let people tell you there is no poverty in southern Chester County...

This report on local childhood poverty offers a stark picture of growing needs in southern Chester County—just as United Way of Southern Chester County launches its 2013 campaign.  The report reveals that there were 1,903 area children ages 5 to 17 living in poverty in 2011, a  65% increase in five years.  Carrie Freeman, CEO for the United Way of Southern Chester County, remarked, “These statistics reflect what our agencies feel every day.  The recession has put enormous pressure on our neighbors.  Now more than ever we need everyone to contribute what they can to this year’s campaign.” To view the full report, click here.

UWSCC votes to remain independent

Last  year, a merger was announced between United Way of Southeastern PA and the United Ways located in southern New Jersey. Although UWSCC was included in those discussions, our board voted to remain independent and devoted to serving the needs of southern Chester County.

Our focus has always been local. Our Kennett Square location keeps us in close touch with our area's non-profits. The decision to remain independent will allow us to continue to identify unmet needs in our community, build coalitions to create solutions that fit our area's unique needs, and ensure that donations made to us are put to work in our own community.

We are proud of our organization and grateful for your support. As the largest funder for local non-profits in our area, we remain committed to improve the lives of our neighbors in need.

Thank you all for your continued support of our mutual work.
